Beyonce and her sister Solange appeared at the pre-Grand opening of the Eight Million designer store in Tokyo's upscale Ginza district on October 31, 2008. The two represent Samantha Thavasa bags and jewelry in Japan.

Solange offered advice to Japanese women. "Individuality is important in fashion," she said. Beyonce commented about teen fashion. "High school girl fashions in Japan are lovely and impressive," she said.

Beyonce also confessed she was a fan of a Japanese fast food hamburger chain. "Mos Burger is my favorite," she said.

The Eight Million store opened to the public November 1, 2008.

Movie Stars Still in TV Ads

Hollywood actors used to try to keep their Japan TV advertising adventures secret. But the internet changed that starting around 1995. I remember some early sites here posting video clips of ads broadcast in Japan - Steven Seagal for an energy drink, Arnold for various products. Nowadays you can find all the old and new ads by the movie stars on YouTube and other video websites.

Recently, Tommy Lee Jones has made a series of more than 10 commercials in Japan for Suntory Boss canned coffee. His role is of a space alien who doesn't understand everyday life in Japan. WATCH VIDEO
